Thank you for visiting Valley Charter Schools! We are a public independent charter organization founded in 2010 and have two small schools - Valley Charter Elementary and Valley Charter Middle - both with an enrollment of under 300 students. Our community is intentionally small and diverse by design; our students learn in a warm, supportive environment that reflects the rich diversity of the San Fernando Valley and the wider world.

At VCS, we believe that students learn best when they engage in meaningful and rigorous project-based learning and develop the academic and social-emotional tools to thrive. Our students are effective communicators, collaborators, self-advocates, and life-long learners. When you step into a VCS classroom, you can feel the joy, the connections, and the curiosity!

When students matriculate from VCS, they are well-prepared for their next level of schooling. While test scores are not our only way of measuring our positive impact on students, VCS schools routinely outperform the neighborhood schools our students might otherwise attend on annual state assessments. Our focus on the individual child supports each student’s growth, progress, and achievement.

Apply Now for the 2027-28 School Year!

The VCS "pre-lottery" application window is now open for the 2027-28 school year! Apply before February 11th, 2027 to be eligible for the enrollment lottery on February 18th, and visit our enrollment pages for more information and/or to sign up for a school tour. VCS families: if you have an incoming sibling who will be joining us next year, you MUST apply on or before February 11th for sibling priority. Don't wait, apply today!

Back-to-School Info for VCS Families: The First Day of School is Wednesday, August 12th!

Back to School Events:
Tk/Kinder parent orientation: August 5th, 6-7pm (VCES Sanctuary)
6th grade back to school movie night: August 6th, 5-7pm (VCMS 6th grade campus)
VCES Meet the Teachers: August 10, 3:30–5:00pm
VCMS Orientation: August 11
First Day of School: August 12 (minimum day schedule)

A VCS special board meeting will be held on August 6th, 2026 at 8:00pm.

*Please note that all regular Board of Directors' meetings are again in-person and members of the public must join from one of the school sites. The Board of Directors' will be meeting at 14646 Sherman Way (6th grade site).

Back to School VCES Parent Coffee on August 14th!

We invite all VCES parents and guardians to join us for a Parent Coffee on the morning of August 14th right after drop-off. This is a relaxed opportunity to connect with other families, build community, and chat informally with school staff.

Whether you’re new to the school or have been here for years, we’d love to see you there. Coffee and light refreshments will be served—stop by and say hello!
