Valley Charter Elementary School Random Public Drawing (Lottery) Information
 
The VCES Random Public Drawing will take place on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2024 at 11:00am.  Click here to zoom into the lottery.
 
Parents/guardians do not need to be present for the lottery. By early March, all applicants will receive a notification indicating their enrollment status and final lottery number. If you do not receive a notification by early March, please contact us at 818.810.6713 or email VCS Director of Operations, Carolina Merino, at [email protected].
 
If the number of students requesting enrollment exceeds the openings available, entrance will be determined by a random public drawing (also known as a lottery) in accordance with Education Code §47605(d)(2). 
 
Waitlisted applications: If spots become available, parents/guardians will be notified according to waitlist number by email, text or phone call with an offer of enrollment.
 
PRIORITY ENROLLMENT
In the event of a public random drawing, admissions exemptions, and preferences will be as follows:
  1. Existing students (exempt) 
  2. Siblings of existing students (exempt) 
  3. Children of faculty (preference)* 
  4. Students who qualify for federal school assistance programs under Title I (preference), not to exceed 25% of total enrollment 
  5. Students who attend Gledhill Elementary School, or who live in the Gledhill Street School attendance area (preference) 
  6. Residents of the District (preference) 
 
* Children of faculty will not constitute more than 10% of the school’s enrollment.
 
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION
Valley Charter Schools requires supporting documentation for priority enrollment. Verification of priority will be done prior to finalizing enrollment.

If the number of students requesting enrollment exceeds the openings available, entrance will be determined by a random public drawing (also known as a lottery) in accordance with Education Code §47605(d)(2). 
 
Once enrollment is reached, the remaining names will continue to be assigned numbers and placed on a “Waiting List” in order. If vacancies occur during the school year, the vacancies will be filled according to the Waiting List order.
