Random Public Drawing (Lottery)

The Random public drawing is on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2021, at 2:00 pm.
The 2021-2022 Random Public Drawing will occur on February 18, 2021, at the school campus – 16514 Nordhoff Street, North Hills, CA 91343. You do not need to be present for this. By mid-March, all enrollment applicants will receive a notification indicating their enrollment status. If the number of students requesting enrollment exceeds the openings available, entrance will be determined by a random public drawing (also known as a lottery) in accordance with Education Code §47605(d)(2). Please click on the .pdf below to see the Priority Enrollment information.
Once enrollment is reached, the remaining names will continue to be assigned numbers and placed on a “Waiting List” in order. If vacancies occur during the school year, the vacancies will be filled according to the Waiting List order.
Every family in the lottery will be notified of their Waiting List number. As spaces become available, parents will be notified by U.S. mail, phone call, or email. Families will be given a deadline by which to accept the spot and pick up an enrollment packet.

  • The deadline for enrollment applications is March 26th, 2021 at 4 pm.
  • The Random public drawing is on April 15th, 2021. 

VCMS offers priority enrollment for certain groups of applicants. No person shall be subject to discrimination on the basis of sex, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic group identification, race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, or disability.

In the event of a public random drawing, admissions exemptions, and preferences will be as follows:
  1. Existing students (exempt)
  2. Siblings of existing students (exempt)
  3. Children of faculty (preference)*
  4. Students who reside in the attendance area of Andres & Maria Cardenas Elementary
  5. School. (preference)
  6. Residents of the District (preference)
* Children of faculty will not constitute more than 10% of the school’s enrollment.
