For the second year in a row Valley Charter Elementary School has won the LA Daily News’ Readers Favorite Charter School Award! VCES has earned this recognition because of our community of students, staff, and family members who work as a team to support our students' academic and social-emotional development. Our office staff ensures operations run smoothly and that all of our students are cared for when they feel ill and have their needs met.
Our families support our school by attending conferences, collaborating with staff, and volunteering at school wide events. Our teachers and specialists design engaging, differentiated, and standards-aligned curriculum. Field trips are a cornerstone of this innovative curriculum. This year students will visit museums and theaters, go on outdoor adventures, and explore our local community. We had another whole school field trip to the Soraya Performing Arts Center and our 5th graders will experience the excitement of Catalina Island Marine Institute.
We also bring curriculum aligned assemblies to the school such as harpists, wildlife centers, and scientists. Our grade level curriculum is enhanced by opportunities such as yoga, art instruction, and music classes.
All of this is in service of bringing learning to life and fostering a life-long love of learning in our students.
These experiences are only possible because of the generosity of our community.
On October 26th, we begin our 2023-2024 Annual Giving Campaign. I invite you to join the legacy of VCES families that have supported our school for the last fourteen years. Your donation enables us to have teaching assistants in each classroom, multiple field trips each year at every grade level, and a full-time school psychologist and reading intervention teacher, as well as class sizes that do not increase in 4th and 5th grade. State funding is not enough to accomplish all this; we rely on our community’s generous contributions.
Our goal is to have 100% participation and to raise $75,000.
While we aim to reach our goal of $1000 from each family (or $83 per month per family; click here to learn how to set up a recurring payment), the most important aspect of this campaign to us is that all families participate by giving a personally meaningful gift. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of our monthly payment options and corporate matching.
The entirety of your donation will go directly to support your students’ academic and social-emotional health. You can donate by visiting supportvalleycharter.org or through check or cash dropped off in the school office.
Thank you for making VCES a special place for our students.
We will not reach our goals without your support.
